Round 1 of the 45th Programmer Tournament has started. Everybody was in a quarter of an hour before the start. After the welcome word by the chairman, Jan Krabbenbos, a moment of silence was held in remembrance of Don Dailey.

At the same time the User Tournament is played with oldies up to ELO 1700. Unfortunately the Open Engine Tournament for tomorrow is cancelled due to not enough participants.
Deep Fritz wins in a queen vs. bishop and rook game. DeepBrutePos and Kallisto, two of the weakest programs in this tournament, lost their game against a much stronger opponent.
